Glitches I Wish I Understood – ERS State Facts Website

September 27, 2012

Not everything on the class set of iPads is going wonderfully. Recently we were researching agricultural commodities and incomes in states using the USDA Economic Research Service site. It’s chock full of great information and one of my students taught me how to use the “find” feature when in Safari on the iPad. Using the iPads for research frees up the computer labs for other courses to use.

We’ve had an unexplainable challenge though. My first class of the day has no problem accessing the site, but after 8:30 am, the state info no longer loads and opens on the iPads. It wasn’t a one day fluke as it has happened on two occasions when trying to do this research.

The work around was moving on to research on other content and scheduling a day in the computer lab to access it. For my smaller classes I printed out the information they would need.
